WANT TO LEARN HOW TO SHOOT?

The more accurate shooter you are; the safer shooter you are. Becoming a safe shooter means starting on the right foot, developing good habits and understanding the mechanics of firearms to ensure reliable, consistent and safe practice sessions.

Whether it is a rifle, shotgun, or handgun, SAMS Training has all the professional experience, and instructional expertise to improve your shooting skills in a safe, friendly environment that is SPECIFICALLY designed with new / beginner firearm users in mind. We understand that there are many people who are really motivated to adopt shooting sports as their new sport/hobby/family activity. However, shooting sports are a hard to break into if you don’t have a friend or family member that is available, skilled or willing to take you along.

SAMS Training will guide you through a step-by-step process of learning which will cover: the fundamentals of firearm operation, marksmanship principles and training concepts. This program is delivered in a easy-to-understand way that is progressive and can be tailored to shooters of all levels. Training is designed to be value-added, fun and build your confidence so you can go to the range and practice yourself!

All of our courses start off with a brief theory / classroom lecture, live-fire practice with coaching and a final match / scenario to confirm skills and instill confidence in all levels of shooters.

COURSES OFFERED

VALID PAL REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN ALL LIVE-FIRE COURSES!

RIFLE LEVEL 1:
NEXT DATE SUNDAY, JULY 28, 2024.
Introduction to shooting paper targets at 50 yards or less.
Rimfire rifles PREFERRED. (no single-shot, .308 WIN or less is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. 200 ROUNDS REQUIRED. A couple rimfire rifles available to borrow for a fee ($100 / day).

MANDATORY PREREQUISITES:

1. VALID PAL (MANDATORY).

2. RIFLE (in good working order, any action-type, except single-shot) with sights mounted with at least 2 magazines, rimfire (preferred) or centre-fire (.308 calibre and smaller). If you don't have a rifle we can lend you a rimfire rifle (bolt action or semi-auto) $100 / day).

3. 200 rounds (preferably of all the same type and brand) of store-bought ammunition (minimum), AMMO for borrowed guns provided at cost ($20 / 100 rounds .22LR) no reloaded ammunition permitted.

4. Safety eyewear and hearing protection (Available for rent $5/ day)

5. Able to easily understand all commands in ENGLISH.

6. Able to follow all commands and direction by instructors and range staff.

7. Basic level of fitness, good vision, able to safely hold and operate a firearm. You will be carrying your rifle, picking it up and putting it down, practicing shooting in the standing position, sitting on a chair with a shooting table / bench, sitting on the ground, kneeling on the ground (if you are able), and prone position (lying on the ground on your belly), and be able to get down, get up and walk around without aids.

SAMS TRAINING reserves the right to remove any student from the course or range activity at any time for any safety violations, failure to comply with commands, or any reason.

Total course time: 8 hours or less.

Schedule:

9:00am - Sign-in
9:30am - Classroom, Principles of Marksmanship lecture / slideshow
10:30am - Break
10:40am - Range Safety Briefing, Spilt up shooting groups
11:00am - Range setup, and sighting-in.
12:30pm- Lunch
12:45pm- Practice 1: Bench shooting, sitting, coaching
1:45pm - Practice 2: Group analysis
2:30pm - Practice 3: Snap shooting
3:30pm- Practice 4: Rapid Fire
4:30pm - Practice Match / FUN shoot / Confirmation
5:00pm - Wrap-up / Clean-up / Dismissal

Will include a brief 1-hour classroom session, 1 hour equipment set up, 1 hour sighting-in, and 4 hours of shooting practice with coaching, lunch break and breaks.

What to bring:

1. Valid PAL

2. $250 cash per person.

3. Rifle, sights, 2 minimum magazines (more the better)
(optional: bipods, shooting bags, shooting mats/ blanket / tarp / foam sleeping mattress ie. something to lie down on.)

4. Safety glasses and hearing protection (prescription eyewear if required)

5. Ammunition, 200 rounds minimum

6. LUNCH, FOOD, SNACKS, WATER (THERE ARE NO RESTAURANTS OR STORES NEARBY).

7. ALL-WEATHER CLOTHING, DRESS APPROPRIATELY, long sleeve shirt and pants (no shorts or no short sleeves), closed shoes / boots, hat, sunblock, rain jacket, bug repellent, & anything you need to survive.

SHOTGUN LEVEL 1: Introduction to Shooting at moving / flying clay targets (trap).
Any shotgun action allowed. All gauges allowed. #7.5 shot size or less. 100 shells required. Shotguns available to borrow for a fee ($100 / day).

HANDGUN LEVEL 1: Introduction to shooting paper targets at 30m or less.
Any type of restricted handgun allowed. 200 rounds required. Handguns available to borrow for the day.

SLUG GUN HUNTING / WILDLIFE DEFENCE COURSE: Introduction to shooting shotguns with slugs for the purpose of hunting or defence against animals, ie. big game (deer / moose / bear) & predators (eg. bear / wolf / coyotes / cougars) while hunting, camping, living or working in the wilderness. 100 shells, 25 slugs required. Shotguns available to borrow for a fee ($100 / day).
