This course is designed to familiarize students with the safe use procedures, handling and storage of non-restricted firearms (rifles and shotguns) and ammunition.

If you want the gun licence for rifles and shotguns, this is the course for you! Non-restricted firearms are long guns that can be used for hunting, or at shooting ranges, private land or crown land.

This course is designed to familiarize students with the safe use procedures, handling and storage of non-restricted firearms (rifles and shotguns) and ammunition.  

This course is introductory and cover the basics of firearms safety including, but not limited to:

  • basic firearms safety practices

  • ammunition types and storage

  • operating firearm actions

  • safe handling procedures and carrying positions

  • responsibilities of the firearms owner/user

  • safe storage, display, transportation and handling of firearms

This stand-alone CFSC is intended for persons who only want to own, shoot or hunt with long guns (non-restricted shotguns and rifles).

COURSE HOURS:

Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety coure (CRFSC) (Restricted, you must have completed CFSC within 30 days to take this course)

1-day course: 8am to 4pm

This course is designed to familiarize students with the safe use procedures, handling and storage, transportation of restricted firearms (handguns, shorter rifles & shotguns) and ammunition. that can be used on shooting ranges ONLY.

This licence is required for employment with CBSA and armed security.

***AS OF OCTOBER 21, 2022 YOU CANNOT LEGALLY BUY A HANDGUN.

COST $170 with 30 days of CFSC, OR $235 AFTER 30 DAYS OF CFSC (HST, textbook, exam fees)

CATEGORY 1: BEGINNER, wants to go hunting, shooting ranges, own, use rifles & shotguns (long guns) ONLY = REGISTER FOR CFSC ONLY (1 DAY COURSE)

COST: $235.00 total.

CATEGORY 2: BEGINNER wants to go hunting, shooting ranges, own, use ALL KINDS of rifles & shotguns and learn how to use handguns = REGISTER FOR BOTH CFSC & CRFSC SEPARATELY (2 DAYS TOTAL TRAINING)

COST: $235.00 + $170.00 = $405.00 total if both courses completed within 30 days, or $470 TOTAL if CRFSC is completed over 30 days after CFSC.

YOU CANNOT BUY A HANDGUN LEGALLY IN CANADA ANYMORE! DUE TO RECENT CHANGES TO REGULATIONS YOU CANNOT BUY A HANDGUN (PISTOL, OR REVOLVER).

This course is still offered for armed security guards who require the restricted licence AND for civilians who wish to buy restricted rifles and shotguns (short barrelled firearms) which are still legal to buy and own.

WHY SHOULD YOU TAKE THE RESTRICTED COURSE?

  1. You will get professional training on how to use a handgun, they are still legal to own and shoot. You can still borrow a handgun if you have restricted licence.

  2. If the laws are changed or reversed, you can buy a handgun right away.

  3. It gives you access to more firearms that you can buy, own and shoot.

  4. It’s cheaper to do both courses back-to-back. If you take them separately the courses are longer and cost more.

  5. It may not be available in the future. It will only get more expensive, more difficult, involve more steps and more paperwork to get this licence in the future.
